About Rolando
Rolando Arco was born in Leningrad (current Saint Petersburg), the son of a Russian-Jewish mother and Cuban father and grew up in a small city on Cuba’s northern shore, with an intermission for college in Lvov (western Ukraine) in the middle of Perestroika's hopes and changes. In 1996 arrived in New York City and started working on environmental projects as a geologist. Have been writing fitfully and stubbornly since childhood. Finished the NYU Creative Writing in Spanish Master program in December 2020.

Abstract

In "Miedo", the first of the two stories, a young engineer flees an imminent arrest during the Stalin purges in 1937 and assumes the identity of a stranger, which lands him in the Siberian taiga, in the unfamiliar role of a hunter.
