About Samiri
Dr. Samiri Hernández Hiraldo currently teaches anthropology in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida. She earned her Ph. D. in Anthropology at the University of Michigan. She has taught, written and published chapters and book reviews in the areas of religion, the latinx experience, Afro-Puerto Rican identity, race, and gender. Her book, Black Puerto Rican Identity and Religious Experience was published in 2006: 2014 by the University Press of Florida. She has also published poetry in several journals and a book of poems. She has been awarded for her creative writing that reflects her anthropological background.

Abstract

Debemos seguir mirando para buscar y movernos más allá de los escombros, las paredes, la misma tierra, telas, escenas, la misma gravedad y los espacios, empezando por los párpados que compiten por cerrarse a cada instante, como quizás y de alguna manera nos lo confirman siete poemas casi amarrados respetando distancias entre uno y el otro para ser por todos siendo uno entre nosotros.
